Matt Batty, MSc P.Geo, initially founded Understood Mineral Resources Ltd. to provide junior to major exploration and mining companies with a reliable alternative in a market that often felt stagnate. In many cases, companies were left choosing between costly, oversubscribed large consultancies with limited availability or underqualified sole proprietors, leaving gaps in quality, responsiveness, and technical rigor. Matt recognized the need for a cost effective firm that combined advanced academic training with practical industry experience, delivering technically robust and auditable resource models while remaining accessible and responsive.
